Drug allergies - There are many people who are allergic to certain medications like penicillin and other antibiotics. This may range from mild to life-threatening.

Symptoms of a drug allergy can include an itchy throat that starts shortly after taking a new medication.

Acid reflux - This is also known as heartburn. This is a condition wherein stomach acid goes back up to the esophagus.

The relevance of acid reflux with an itchy throat is when a person has a silent reflux with itchy throat as a symptom.

Allergic rhinitis - This is also known as hay fever, this is also one of the most common causes for an itchy throat. There are millions of Americans affected by it.

This condition happens when the body overreacts to a harmless substance, releasing a chemical called histamine which causes these overreactions.

The common triggers are dust, pollen, pet dander, and irritants such as smoke from exhaust fumes or cigarettes.
