During pregnancy, a condition called morning sickness frequently happens during the first trimester. Morning sickness is associated with nausea and frequent vomiting. Because of its symptoms, most pregnant women find

it difficult to deal with it for months. This condition can happen anytime on any given day.

As stated earlier, pregnant women frequently experience morning sickness in their first trimester, but for others it can happen all throughout their pregnancy.

This condition is normally mild, but in other cases with severe symptoms, it is called hyperemesis gravidarum — this causes a pregnant woman to experience severe nausea and vomiting that causes dehydration or results in a loss of more than 5 percent of pre-pregnancy body weight.

We all know that morning sickness is a sign of pregnancy, but what you don’t know is that it can also happen to anyone of any gender.

There can be many causes for morning sickness that have nothing to do with being pregnant. Here are other factors that can cause morning sickness:

Poor Sleep Habit

Not getting enough hours of sleep can have a great impact on your overall health, which includes your digestive system.

Insomnia and sleep apnea can cause morning sickness because of the poor sleeping habits.

If you have sleeping problems and aren't getting enough sleep, it can affect your appetite and metabolism.

Poor sleep habits cause the body to weaken therefore, it doesn’t have the required nourishment the body needs.

Acid Reflux

The process of the stomach acid traveling up to the esophagus, is called an acid reflux. Having acid reflux can cause symptoms such as heartburn and nausea.

To prevent having acid reflux, refrain from eating heavy dinners or just simply avoid eating before bedtime.

During dinner, it is best to skip fatty and greasy foods, and caffeinated or carbonated drinks.

Low Blood Sugar

The food you eat is converted by your body to create sugar or glucose. This glucose gives you the energy your body needs to get you through the day.

Having regular meals and a good eating habit can boost your body and give you energy. But if you have poor eating habits and skip meals, you are likely to have low blood sugar levels.

This causes you to wake up nauseous and weak. In order to prevent this from happening, you should eat healthy meals 3 times a day, with a balance of lean protein, fiber, and carbohydrates.

The most important thing to remember is to never skip meals. But if you feel nauseous and weak in the morning, and is associated with shakiness, you have to check your blood sugar levels with your doctor.

This may lead to hypoglycemia, which is a condition caused by low blood sugar levels. This condition is a common marker for prediabetes and diabetes.

Anxiety And Nervousness

Feeling anxious? The butterflies you feel in your stomach can affect your eating routine. Getting nervous and anxious at times causes your stomach to feel an uncomfortable sensation.

This will result in not having the urge to eat. You can relieve your mind and body through relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, and deep breathing.

Morning sickness isn’t usually serious and it only has mild symptoms. If you have a mild case of morning sickness, it’s best to try natural remedies to ease your condition.

But if it happens to you frequently, then general check-up from your doctor would be the best solution.

Here are natural remedies for morning sickness without using medication.

Both techniques use gentle pressure through hand pressure or tiny needles. These have similar procedures, such as putting pressure on certain nerve centers in the body.

Acupuncture uses tiny needles to put pressure on certain areas of the body. This is performed by trained practitioners because the process shall be done accurately or else it can create more problems.

Acupressure on the other hand, uses hand pressure on the body. You can try doing this simple acupressure procedure by pressing three fingertips gently and firmly on the base of your palm, just above the pulse.

Do deep breaths and press the area with your fingertips for at least a minute. Acupuncture and acupressure can both help alleviate morning sickness symptoms as it is a way to relax the body and certain organs.

Ginger

This ingredient has already been used for centuries to treat many conditions. But one of the great things it does is alleviate nausea-related conditions such as morning sickness.

You can try taking ginger tea to relax your mind and body.

Aromatherapy

This procedure has been known to help ease nausea. Although certain scents can be sensitive for pregnant women, there are some scents that can help ease their morning sickness.

These scents include lavender, chamomile, peppermint, and ginger. You can just simply sniff it straight from the bottle or pour a drop on a piece of cotton ball, then sniff it.

Pregnant or not, getting enough sleep has a big factor in one’s health. Thus, having 8 hours of sleep daily can help restore nutrients needed by the body, by resting your mind and body.

Not having enough sleep will cause you to wake up irritable and shaky because your body didn’t have enough rest time. It’s as if you overused your phone, it gets drained and results in a low battery.

Just like your body, it needs rest and charging time to get up well the next day.
