Is There a Natural Remedy To Lose Weight?

Hey, welcome, it’s Mary Sheila, and I’m excited to share this next mindful eating technique when it comes to balanced blood sugar, again, a simple natural remedy to support your blood sugar balance, which I believe is the foundation of our health.

Last week I talked about how important balanced blood sugar is - and this is because you want your blood - which is sending nutrients to every single cell in the body to be full of vitamins and minerals and able to get into all the nooks and crannies, like your eyes so you continue to have good vision, to your pinkie finger and toes - to protect your nerves, and your kidneys, which are constantly filtering your blood.

Balanced blood sugar makes sure that your blood flows like a beautiful clear river, not a thick muddy one, and this means all your cells can take up the nutrients your blood is sending. If your blood sugar stays elevated for too long - this can thicken the blood, it makes your heart work harder, this is what leads to diabetes,

A big part of balanced blood sugar is how much we eat. Most of us eat too much, and over time, this can cause weight gain and contribute to blood sugar problems. Over time, many of us don’t even realize we are eating too much, and we also have trouble knowing when we reach that tipping point, because we tend to eat pretty fast.

We all have our reasons for eating fast, right? Maybe you’ve been a part of the clean your plate club, or you were told to eat everything on your plate, you feel bad if you don’t, or maybe you weren’t allowed to leave the table until you did. I know, I was one of 7 kids, so waste was frowned upon and eating fast meant if I wanted seconds, there would be some left.

But now, sometimes eating a full plate of food might be too much. Overeating is a sign that we are not able to hear our body’s own internal signaling when we have had enough.

We actually have a hormone called Leptin, that sends a message to a gland in the brain midway through a meal that is supposed to turn off our hunger and trigger satisfaction and satiety, so we slow down and stop eating. But, if we are eating fast, or not eating with mindfulness, we won’t feel it. Not too mention, excess inflammation also makes it hard to hear the message of this hormone called leptin.

So today I want to share with you a mindful eating hack you can use that will help you to slow down and eat less, and this is exactly what has worked for one of my clients, and helped her to lose over 60 lbs without changing what she was eating.

Here’s what she did. When she sat down to eat, she would put her fork down when she had eaten about ½ to ⅔ of her meal. She would wait 10-15 minutes before she ate another bite. One of my current clients, she gets up and leaves the room while she waits, as she finds its easier. After her waiting period, if she still felt hungry, she would eat more, and if not, she would save whatever was on her plate for another meal. She found that her satisfaction from the leptin caught up with her, and she didn’t need to eat more. Just by eating less, she was able to lose 60 lbs in less than 1 year.

To me this is the ultimate of natural remedies, because it is all about listening to your own body.

I invite you to give that a try, and let me know how it goes! It’s always good to feel good and energized after a meal, rather than stuffed and weighed down. And when we don’t overeat, it is so much easier for our body to maintain a healthy blood sugar balance in the body!

Let me know how it goes, and stay tuned for another blood sugar tip next week. We’ll be talking about one my favorite food group that contains powerful vitamins and minerals for blood sugar balance, and some delicious ways to add them to your diet! Because I’m a firm believer, if you are going to eat healthy, then it better be delicious!

Thanks for watching and see you soon! And please, post your questions or comments below!
